JAMES GRANDSLAM CARRIES GAMBLERS PAST TWINS 4-1 FOR DH SWEEP & SWEEP OF 4 GAME SERIES.
Desmond James picked a good time to hit his 1st homer of 1972-a grandslam in the 4th inning of game 2 on Sun that propelled LV pat MIN & sent 33571 fans home in a surly mood as LV completed a sweep of the dh & the 4 game series. The Gamblers have now won 7 straight and are 73-30 on the season. Coming into the series the Twins had hoped to win at least 3 of 4 to stay in contention in the AL West but have now been all but eliminated barring a miracle. Vegas leads 2nd place Chicago(58-44)by 14 1/2 games. John Bibby(8-5)was the winning pitcher in game 2 & Mel Jackson recorded his 30th save of the season. Jackson remains perfect in saves(30-30).Obadiah Gamble extended his hitting streak to 6 & The Gamblers are a perfect 7 for 7 with him in the lineup.
